April 6, 2012 - The Air Conditioning Contractors of America - Ohio Chapter (ACCA Ohio) has announced that Roger Gundlach, president of Gundlach Sheet Metal Works, Sandusky, Ohio, has been named the association’s president for 2012-2013. Gundlach, who previously served as the ACCA Ohio president-elect, had his presidency officially announced during ceremonies held at the associations Annual Convention in Columbus, OH. The following information was written up in Consumer Reports October 2012 and it is still good information. You might want to take a minute to read on: According to the Consumer Reports National Research Center you can boost home energy efficiency by making the following 7 changes:
1. Purchase and use energy efficient light bulbs (81%)
2. Purchase Energy Star Appliances (44%)
3. Caulk windows and doors (43%)
4. Install energy-efficient windows and doors (29%), 5. Install insulation (24%)
5. Upgrade to an energy-efficient heating or cooling system (23%)
6. Purchase a high-efficiency water heater (21%)
and
7. Install a renewable energy system - solar panels or a wind turbine (3%)
They recommend adjusting your programmable thermostat for your heating and cooling equipment 5 to10 degrees at night and when you are not at home to save up to 20% on your home energy bill -
an approximate savings of $200 annually
. They also recommend paying a
"qualified heating and cooling pro"
to seal and insulate heating and cooling ducts, especially in unconditioned spaces. This could result in an
annual savings of $400.

This Wi-Fi enabled thermostat allows the homeowner to change setpoints, monitor home comfort, trend energy usage and much more…all via the Internet.
