Introducing the ecobee Internet Accessible Thermostat. We have been asked quite a bit by homeowners if we carry a thermostat that allows them to access their furnace and AC units over the internet.  For years we have had several excellent commercial systems such as Carrier’s i-Vu but that system is out of the price range of the average homeowner.

Those days are over and we are happy to announce that we now have available just such a system for home use:  the new ecobee Smart Thermostat.  This Wi-Fi enabled thermostat allows the homeowner to change setpoints, monitor home comfort, trend energy usage and much more…all via the internet.

The way it works is simple.  As long as you have Wi-Fi capability in your home, you can use this thermostat.  It is compatible will all sorts of heating and cooling systems such as gas furnaces, boilers, heat pumps and air conditioning.  It also has auxiliary outputs to control devices like humidifiers and zoning.

The thermostat also includes many new and useful features.  It displays current local weather and weather forecasts on a full color touch screen display.  It will email warnings if the temperature in the home falls too low thus preventing pipe freezing disasters.  It will email a warning if the temperature inside gets too high, indicating that the AC unit is not working properly.  In addition, it will conveniently send out email alarms notifying the homeowner that it is time for regular maintenance such as filter changes.

The applications of this thermostat are virtually endless.  A caregiver can monitor an elderly parent or grandparent’s home heating and cooling system giving them peace of mind that their loved one will always have safe and/or economical temperatures in the home.

Do you have vacation property?  This device will allow a vacation homeowner to turn heating or cooling systems on before arrival and will issue an email warning if there is trouble while the unit is unoccupied.

This thermostat is ideal for property management companies.  Now, HVAC systems for many properties can be managed from one computer instead of driving around wasting countless hours.
