Safety Awards

Gundlach Sheet Metal is very proud of the quality of work performed by our co-workers.  One good indication of quality is our performance record related to safety.  The following represent a few of the safety awards we have received.

For the past 6 years, Gundlach has been the recipient of the ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractor's of America) Safety Masters Club Award.  This award is the ACCA premier safety award program for heating, ventilating, air conditioning & refrigeration contractors.

ACCA contractors who demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety are eligible for nomination to the Safety Masters Club.  Requirements for membership include the use of a formal safety program; an insurance experience modification factor of less than 1.2; and a copy of the contractor's OSHA Log 200 or 300, if the company has experienced any type of accident during the calendar year.

The Safety Masters Club is reserved exclusively for those contractors who show leadership in safety and excellence in performance.

March 28, 2008 at the North East Ohio CEA/CISP 14th Annual Safety Incentive Program Award Luncheon, Gundlach received the 2007 Contractor Safety Award for construction safety excellence as a special trade contractor. The focus of this program, known as the Safety Incentive Program is to encourage contractors and crafts persons to be more aware of working safely on the jobsite.

Reducing accidents is considered not only good economic sense but a moral obligation and the SIP program serves to lower injuries and illnesses while providing a forum for labor and management to meet on a regular basis and discuss current safety trends affecting the construction industry.

The Building and Construction Trades, contractors and employer associations have pledged to cooperate in this effort to reward employees who work safely and this program is designed to supplement a contractor’s existing safety and health program, not merely replace it.

Each year, the Sandusky Area Safety Council (SASC) sponsored by The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (Division of Safety & Hygiene) awards local companies with the following awards:

•    The 100% Award: presented to each SASC member business and organization that worked  the entire year without a lost-time injury or illness,
•    The Achievement Award: presented to each SASC member business and     organization that decreased its incident rate by at least 25% from the     previous year, and
•    The Group Award: presented to each SASC member business and     organization with the lowest incident rate in each group.

Gundlach Sheet Metal has been the  recipient of these awards for several years, many of them awarded for consecutive years.  At the 57th Annual Safety Awards Banquet, we received the combined 100% Award and the Group Award.

The Safety Incentive Program is co-sponsored by nine trade associations and 30 participating unions serving north central Ohio.  The “Elite” Contractor Award recognizes those contractors who have demonstrated their commitment to safety and health through criteria as specified by OSHA.

The criterion stipulates that contractors must have a Lost Workday Incident Rate/Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred Rate at a three-year average of 25% below the national average and a good history with OSHA.  An “Elite” Contractor meets the above specifications and has implemented an outstanding safety and health program.
